Design and Building Complications
The customer was operating under a tight budget and wanted an affordable, yet efficient, HVAC solution to serve the new basketball and football practice areas. Roof mounted equipment would have required significant and costly structural additions. Significant amounts of ductwork were required with the original solution that would have interrupted the clear span of the facility, and would have reduced the playable practice space.
Johnson Solution
- Cost Savings – Only two Johnson Air-Rotation HVAC Systems were needed to evenly and efficiently serve both practice spaces, replacing eight of the proposed rooftop units, creating huge installation savings. This reduction in equipment translates into a more maintainable solution and resulted in saved installation dollars. The ductwork would also have required tedious maintenance over the life of the equipment. The two Johnson Air-Rotation HVAC Systems were mounted at grade, outside. No additional structure was needed for mechanical equipment, providing further project savings.
- Product Life – Johnson Air-Rotation HVAC Systems are built to last, meaning you won’t have to replace your system every 15 years. The system is efficient and it will remain so over time. The Johnson system has a 30+ year product life, being able to serve your building and your needs for a very long time.
- Operating Savings – Since all ductwork was eliminated by using Johnson Air-Rotation HVAC Systems, it greatly reduced system cost and airside horsepower requirements, reducing operational costs. Also, since the system in mounted at grade, it is easy to maintain, and with the reduction of mechanical equipment needed there is less maintenance time and cost. The destratification that Johnson Air-Rotation offers greatly minimizes temperature gradients, this along with Johnson’s high efficiency prop fans, yields massive operational cost savings.
